Based on her work with the military and Indigenous communities, Suzanne speaks, and is available to speak, to audiences on the arts and reconciliation, the role of the artist in bearing witness, the creative process as a bridge to community, and to the role of the arts in wellbeing.

Past engagements have included arts festivals, regimental dinners, the National War Museum, academic conferences (Amiens, France, Oxford etc.), community engagement projects (the gathering of the Elders in Montana) and much more. Most recently, Dr. Steele spoke to a Truth and Reconciliation project that engages two faith communities (St Ignatius Catholic Church and St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Indigenous Church in Winnipeg, MB) about the role of arts and reconciliation. She also spoke at numerous gatherings of dignitaries on the subject of Indigenous language vitalization, and reconciliation and the arts, to audiences that included Manitoba’s Premier Wab Kinew, the Lt. Governor The Honourable Anita Nevel, numerous cabinet ministers, policy makers, industry leaders, Knowledge Keepers, and community makers.
